Abstract

Augusto Vidal Parera is perhaps the main introducer of the concept of Child Psychiatry in Spain. He was not a doctor but an educator, but he published the first text that we know with this name, the "Compendium of Child Psychiatry" (Barcelona, 1907), which had several editions. It was intended primarily for teachers, but it is an important book in its time.
