Abstract

Results from epidemiological and clínical studies in Ohsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) show higb comorbility rates. Those studies d-f.(er in their methods and comorbility results.
Objective. To compare information on comorbility o/ ten OCD's studies in chíldren and adolescents.

Method. To compare methodology and results onfour non referred and six clínica! groups.
Results. Epidemiological studies djlfer in ages and diagnostic instru1nents. OCD' comorbility in general population is hetween 55-84%. Anxiety and mood disorders are tbe bighest associated disorders. Association with stereotyped movements is higher than expected. In the clinical studies the 1ncojority of
cases had comorbid diagnoses (62-96%). Comorhility far most disorders was greater than expected: mood disorders (mean 40. 7%, expected 28%), anxiety disorders (mean 43.52%, expected 31%), Tourette's syndrome (mean 13.2% expected 0.1 %), anorexia nervosa (mean 7.26%, expected 0.5%), and ohssesive-co1npulsive personality disorder (OCPD)
(mean 12.5%, expected 0.35%).
Conclusions: Co1norbid diagnostic is over 55% in any study. Association with anxiety in anorexia nervosa, Tourette's syndrome and OCPD.
