Abstract

Objective: To compare the global intellectual quotient (IQ) and the Kaufman Freedom From Distractibility factor with the Wechsler lntelligence Scale far Children -Revised (WISC-R) in children and adolescent with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) with respect to the Spanish general population where the scale has been validated. Method: The sample is constituted by 70 children between the ages of 6 to 14 years seen in two child psychiatric units (CSMIJ Eixample and Institut Dexeus) who had the diagnosis of DSM IV ADHD. The ADHD group has divided into a group of pure ADHD (N = 43 children, 61.4%) anda second group of ADHD with comorbidity disorders (N = 27 children, 38.6%}. Results: The ADHD group has significant lower seores in the Kaufman distractibility factor than the normalitzation population. In thc analysis of each subtests Digit Span has significant lower seores but A rithmetic and Coding do not have significant different seores than the tipyficated population. Nevertheless the ADHD children show significant higher seores in Vocabulary, Picture Completion, and Performance Intellectual Quotient than the normative Spanish population.
