Abstract

The current situation is forcing us to have contact with death, which is an inescapable fact and is part of life. Putting words to this event is very complicated, even more so when it comes to communicating it to the youngest ones. This will be the starting point to work through mourning, which is the normal adaptation process that follows the loss of a loved one and encompasses the feelings, emotions and behaviours that appear in the face of that loss. It will be different in each person and different depending on the moment of development. In these times of COVID, they may have to face the first significant death in their lives, i.e. the death of a grandparent, and rituals, which are ceremonies that help us to say goodbye, have suffered great restriction and need to be adapted.
