Abstract

The focus of adolescent depression, by different health professionals, is an unquestionable fact in estimating that in 2020 will be an issue of great impact in developing countries. The objective of this paper is to analyze the scientific evidence in the PEDro database on the use of physical therapy in adolescent depression with a bibliometric study. The results show that only 1.5% of articles indexed in PEDro speak of physiotherapy in adolescent depression. The main techniques are investigated physiotherapy exercise (58.8%), prevention and massage (17.6%) and relaxation techniques (5.8%). Most of the jobs are located in magazines Perceptual and Motor Skills, Adolescence and The International Journal of Neuroscience. The main producers are the Universities of United States, United Kingdom and Australia. It is essential to research in physical therapy to help prevent, treat or mitigate the impact of depression in the young.
