Introduction: Mediterranean Diet adherence (MDA) is associated with risk prevention of cardiovascular, inflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases and some studies suggest a reduction in mental health problems. Socioeconomic Status (SES) and Caregiver Burden (CB), could influence MDA. Aim: To evaluate MDA, SES and CB in adolescents with a first-episode of psychosis (FEP) and compare with controls. Methodology: Cross-sectional study in which 27 patients with FEP and 38 controls were included. All participants completed the KIDMED questionnaire, which measures MDA, the Hollingshead test that evaluates SES and the CBI scale that assesses the risk of CB. Results: No significant differences were observed in the KIDMED means between patients (6.2±2.7) and controls (6.78±2.74). MDA was not correlated with the risk of CB (R=-0.165 p=0.442). There was a negative correlation with SES in patients with FEP (R= -0.390 p=0.04). In the KIDMED items, patients showed significant differences in item 6: X2=0.006 p=0.010 and item 12: x2=0.017 P=0.027 with patients presenting an unfavorable pattern. Conclusions: No differences were observed between patients and controls in MDA. However, we observed specific aspects in which patients deviate from a correct MDA, which could have an impact on their health.
