Resumen

Hay pocos estudios que investiguen directamente la eficacia de los psicofármacos para tratar la agresividad infantil. A pesar de ello, la polifarmacia es una práctica frecuente en los trastornos de conducta. Existen indicios de que una alteración de la serotonina favorece la conducta agresiva en los niños disociales y en los hiperactivos agresivos. Sin embargo, la eficacia de los inhibidores selectivos de la recaptación de la serotonina para el control de la agresividad en los niños y adolescentes no ha sido probada. El litio sigue siendo el tratamiento mejor estudiado, pero todavía no se han identificado los marcadores de respuesta al mismo. Los antiepilépticos son de elección, siempre que exista una alteración Jel EEG, pero no está claro su eficacia cuando el EEG es normal. El metilfenidato puede ser una opción válida en adolescentes disociales. La hospitalización y el placebo también deberían ser considerados para disminuir la conducta agresiva.
