Abstract

Kind of request and psychiatric diagnosis are studíed in a sample of 245 children and adolescents referred to a Child Psychiatric Clinic of a General Hospital Jrom a community sample of 160,385. Children and parents were interuiewed by mea ns of semistructured ínteruiews. Results on 133 children (54%), ages 6 o 11, are presented, compared to preschool children and adolescents. Psychiatric disordes are more frequent in males than in jemales, though the difference diminishes with age. Developmental learning disorders, autism, mental retardation, conduct disorder and tic disorders are more prevalent among males, and psychophysiologic disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder and mood disorders amongfemales.
