The need for children and adolescent mental health care, both in in- or out-patient units has increased worldwide in the last years. In the province of Soria, where there is no specific child and adolescent in-patient unit, some beds can be arranged in the adult in-patient unit for severe and urgent cases. In the last 14 years, this resources have been growingly utilized. However, it is in 2020 and 2021 when this demand has burst, in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic and the state of alarm. Although it has still to be observed whether this trend continues to rise in the future, it makes clear the need to reinforce psychiatric care with specific resources for these patients in the area, for this population group.
