Abstract

We report the case of a 11-year-old girl that was admitted in Paediatrics Unit and later in Childhood and Youth Psychiatry Unit, with a suspected severe conversion disorder which included immobility and refusal to eat and drink. We explain the multidisciplinary approach to the case, both hospital and ambulatory levels. Complete recovery took about a year after the onset of symptoms. Furthermore, we make a brief review about the characteristics of conversion disorders in children and adolescents, with a special focus on the prognosis.
