The purpose of this article is to do a review on the concept of Body Image and in which way its distortion makes people feel upset with themselves, especially in association with eating disorders. The body image distortion is a nuclear concept in this pathology diagnosis and it is very important in its genesis and in its evolution, too. Also, it seems that the treatment based only on clinical symptoms of eating disorders don´t modify the perception that the patients has on its own body. So this fact becomes a risky factor that leads to relapses. Going on with this issue, we propose several interventions used in the treatment, once the disorder has been settled and in the prevention, too.
