Abstract

In this issue, we try to study a sample of patients admitted to the Psychiatric Unit of a General Hospital Jrom 1989 to 1991, with the diagnosis ofpsychotic disorder, and onset before 18 years old. By sex, we find a higher rate of males (76.3%). Mean age during the first episode was 15.5. By diagnosis, the most Jrequent was paranoid schizopbrenia (52.4%), and the second one, the disorganized type (38%). The mean number of admissions (admissions/years of evolution of the illness) was 1.03. An important psychosocial impairment was observed in 38.1% ofthe sample. Clozapine was used in 47.6% of the patients, and depot neuroleptics in 4 7. 62%. A first degree of Jamily history of psychiatric disorders (not only psychotic disorders) was observed in 33.3% of the people.
